With an evolving portfolio of completed work, Guillaume Gentet of La Décoratique has continued to cultivate his voice as part designer-fine artist, craftsman and stylist wrapped in the sensibility of a builder. Not only adept at directing construction, designing cabinetry, fabricating custom curtains and wall coverings, he possesses the clarity one needs to sort through hundreds of fabrics, wall treatments, antiques and other furnishings to make just the right choice for his clients.

ARCHITECTURAL & INTERIOR DESIGN SERVICES

Consultation & Program

At the beginning, a client's needs and objectives are identified including intended function(s) of the project(s), aesthetic considerations as well as furniture and equipment needs. Measurements and photos are also noted along with orientation to natural light or other unique features.

Schematic Design

Preliminary space planning and furniture options are explored. Circulation patterns and minimum clearances are considered and applied to the floor plan. Rough sketches and elevations are created, preliminary furniture and finish ideas are developed and presented for review.

Design Development

After final approval of the schematic design, the designer develops floor plans, elevations and other related items in greater detail. Colors and finishes are refined, furniture, fabrics and equipment are selected and cost estimates are prepared. The resulting design is presented for review and final approval. Purchase orders may be developed for long- lead or custom items.

Construction Documents & Bidding

Part one includes specific details of the work to be completed along with preliminary interviews of prospective builders. Millwork details and finish selections such as flooring, wallcovering, and paint options are made along with lighting, and plumbing options. During part two, bids are obtained, contractors selected, and purchase orders are issued.

Construction Observation (and Construction Administration)

Demolition can reveal unforeseen conditions. New space(s) can be uncovered or limits found. Regular site visits to observe work progress, meeting builders and tradespeople, means issues can be addressed, creatively, in REAL time. Regular site visits ensure that custom items are received in proper condition, that key warranty conditions are met and that the intent design is preserved.
